Bloggy Carnival Update

I was a winner at the recent BLoggy Carnival! I won Soap Nuts from Laundry Tree.
I am super happy to have won, so thank you Laundry Tree! Here is a picture of my little prize after I opened the box. I was very interested in getting this prize. It sounded interesting and I am on a kind of a 'green' kick of late....so appealed to me on that level ( plus I WON them...whats better!) Basically, the shell of this nut is made of a substance known for its ability to cleanse and wash. Apparently they have been around for centuries and have been used to clean all kinds of fabrics- naturally.
They are organically grown and are chemical-free. They’re totally biodegradable, so better for the environment than regular detergent. So when they arrived I was eager to try them out.
I will admit that like anything new, they looked a bit odd and sounded a bit funny. When I told the DH about them, he just gave me that look. (Yah, the one with the rolling eyes) My fist load of laundry were these 2 huge bolts of fabric that I use during my jewelry trunk shows. My dog slobbered all over - so they were dirty. It was a huge load. I tossed in 4 soap nuts and set to wash on warm as I normally do. No soap at all. The load came out clean and the slobber was gone. Next I did a whole load of the little jewels clothes..again, clean. Then a did a load of the hubbys and a load of towels. All on the same 4 soap nuts. ( For those of you perceptive, no, I did not start with my clothes....that is was of the perks of being the one to do the laundry. If these were not going to work ....or have any problems...I was so going to not have my clothes messed up.) They last ( and 5th) load of laundry was a whole load of my clothes. Everything looks totally clean. There is no odor. My little jewel has very fair skin and he has had no reaction which he does sometimes when I change detergent, so there is another plus.

I am really pleased 5 loads of laundry of 4 little nuts.... no detergent.... very cool!
Thank you Laundry Tree for picking my at the carnival!
