I have several craft projects going on at the moment. All in various stages ( both in my mind and in my craft room, and living room and kitchen and… well, you get the idea)
I figured that since we would be home “watching” the Superbowl and it was raining it presented me with an opportunity to catch up on some things I wanted to do.
Here is one…can you guess?
Its a project I have been thinking about since December when I saw this post at Somewhat Simple.
I started with a black frame from the dollar store which I painted with white paint and textured with apple butter brown paint. I found a cute photo of my little jewel and cut it out of black cardstock. I covered it with glue and sprinkled on the glitter. After the glitter dried, I glued it to a piece of cardstock that matched my living room. Then it was just a matter of putting all the pieces together. It is on my mantle now and I am pretty pleased with myself. I think what I like best is this project was easy. I can swap out the paper and the shilotte to match my mood or the season. I am rethinking the glitter and also need to watch my hand with the apple brown butter paint. Its a fine line between looking rough and antique and getting sloppy. But again, for a first try, I am giving myself a pat on the back.
Also, my little jewel joined in on the fun and we went crazy with Shrinky Dinks. After we colored and cooked them; we glued them to magnets and clips for my office bulleting board.
Here are just a couple.
(yes, I did the “diva” one… just could not help myself)
If you have not tried Shrinky Dinks, I suggest you give them a try. They are so fun and versatile- for all ages. The wheels are already turning for more ways to use Shrinky Dinks.
