Bleach Spray Shirts

I have seen this craft done a couple times during some blog hopping and as usual, had to give it a try.  ( So Not Donna Reed  most recently;but there are others and I apologize for not linking you all.)
It is a great way to hide any stains and bring life back to clothes.   The process is really easy:
1. choose a shirt
2.  pick a design, cut out of freezer paper and iron on
3.  fill a spray bottle with bleach ( Some blogs suggested to water the bleach down, since I am impatient and want everything now, just used full bleach in my bottle.)
4. Lightly spritz the shirt with bleach, let sit until the desired effect

This first shirt, I made for my niece.  I drew a peace sign out of freezer paper and then ironed it on.   You can see it drew several lines until I got it the way I wanted.  This is a very forgiving craft.

I am torn because the bleach does not really stand out against the light color of the pink shirt.  It is  very subtle and almost really just looks faded.

Next I made my little jewel a shirt.  This design is based on a nickname his teacher calls him.  I cut the number and letters from my circut machine and ironed them on.  The oval I cut out myself.    Then went out to the garage and started working with the bleach.
Here is the shirt after bleaching, with the freezer paper still on.

Here it is after I pulled the freezer paper off.

I asked my little jewel to smile and show me his new shirt for my blog.  This is what I got.

After a short discussion, we decided to try that smile again.
Better…but not really enthusiastic.

Better; but  for those of you who do not know my child this is such a fake pose and smile.

I decided to change venue and offer Starbucks as a bribe( the dude LOVES chocolate croissants!)   I ended up getting them together for a photo and I got one child who posed so nice and pretty and then the other still giving me attitude.   Oh well, what’s a mother to do?

I am definitely  doing this again.  It is a super easy thing to do, fun, and brings new life to an old shirt.
Couple things I have found working with the bleach spray bottle:  a really light fine mist sprayer works best. And stand back, spray the bleach kind of above and in the air over the shirt so the mist kind of falls down all around the shirt.  It seems to look more “natural” that way.  Also, watch your own clothes as you do this craft or you may end up crafting your own cloths and not know it.

I tried this recently, but used my cricut to cut out some words for an event. Worked pretty good and everyone loved it!

You made the peace sign upside down.
When things are placed upside down they can mean "anti"
So that little girl is advertising Anti-Peace.
