How to make an easy cupcake display

A couple of you asked how I made the cupcake display in my last baby shower post.  So, you want to be the hero at your next party, too?  Want everyone to think you are creative and awesome without spending too much money or time?
Well, alrighty then.
First, for the actual cupcake stand you will need  three boxes in graduating sizes, wrapping paper & ribbon to match your theme. Wrap all the boxes in solid wrapping paper. ( The boxes at the post office work great, and they are free...score!)
011
You will stack the boxes to form a tier to hold your cupcakes.  (This is really light if you have to transport your display and clean up is a breeze.  Just recycle all the paper and cardboard when you are done...no washing!)
012
Next, decorate your boxes.  I used ribbon here; but there really are so many things that could be done.  Use what you like and what you have on hand.

Now on to the cupcake wrappers and cupcake toppers.  These are also really easy to make with materials that are fairly inexpensive; but give you the total WOW factor.
For the cupcake wrappers, start with a template.  I found the one at Skip to My Lou easy to use.   Trace the template onto paper and cut out.  I used scissors along the top that had detail; but you can cut it anyway you like.  After they are cut, you just tape together and slip over the cupcake.

For the cupcake toppers, all you need are toothpicks, cardstock and stickers of your choice.  Cut out a shape from the cardstock, put the sticker on the center and glue the toothpick to the back with hot glue.

Next just set out your display, add the cupcakes with wrappers and  toppers and  sit back and wait for the compliments.

I was inspired to make these  projects by the wonderful blogs:

I am linking up to these blog parties.  So many great things....so little time.

That's extremely cute and easy! Better than paying $30 for the plastic stands at the store and you know they'll tip over once a couple are off the tier! Thanks for sharing!

What a great idea. That display looks better than one that you would spend a fortune on.
