I started looking on line for some solutions and one thing that came up was getting an "energy assessment", which is kind of like a check up for your house. A contractor will come in for the energy assessment and help you determine where the problems and help you eliminate them. We all can guess at the reason our house is not energy efficient- bad insulation, drafty doors or windows- but an assessment will tell you exactly where best to spend your money. I also checked my specific county and there are rebates being offered that can save up to 80% on the work if you follow through on the suggestions from the assessment contractor. There are many great sources our there for information, like Facebook. You should see what is available in your neighborhood. There could be great deals out there now for you to save money and make your home more efficient. I just added one more thing to my New Years Resolution list.
